Training For The Big Day

Kia ora. Today I will be blog posting about athletics. On Tuesday the year 6, 7 and 8 student went out for athletics. The reason it was only these three years is because the little kids take a while and we don't get many turns. We were put in our house groups. I am in Karaka, we had to do discus. I don’t think I am good at discus. Do you think discus is your strength in athletics?

T-ball With KC

Kia ora! Hope you are having a very good week. We had our first T-ball lesson of term four. Before we started playing Whaea KC was introducing the rules to us. We got put into two teams, the team that I was in was fielding first. After we fielded we got to have a turn batting. If I had to choose if I could bat or field, I would choose to field. I learnt that if the ball comes off the T you still have to run to first base it does not matter how far it goes. I thought that T-ball was very enjoyable! Do you like T-ball, if you do what do you prefer fielding or batting?

Cricket with Neil

Kia ora, whoever is reading my blog post, I hope you are having a good day! On Wednesday the 21st of October 2020 we went out for a cricket lesson. Before we started practising the instructor was telling us where to hold the bat and how to hold the bat. When the instructor finished telling us that, we had to get with a buddy. My buddy was Dale. After we got into buddies, we had to go stand by the equipment and buddy one which was Dale got to do the batting first. I was the fielder, I had to try and catch the ball. After Dale hit the balls, it was my turn to hit the balls. It was fun because I got to whack the balls as hard as I wanted to! Have you ever tried to play cricket?

Sharing My Knowledge On Mood

Kia ora! Last week we did an activity about mood. We had three pictures and underneath each picture we had to think and write about how the person was feeling and what might have happened. I learnt that if there is a blue hue to the picture, it normally means that it is sad. We also had to think about what might happen but officially we couldn't get that wrong! There wasn't anything hard about the activity for me to be very honest. Would you like to do an activity about mood like I did?

Following The Kawa Of Care

Kia ora my name is Kai and I am year seven. Three weeks and one day ago I did my Kawa Of Care DLO. The Kawa Of Care is something that you have to follow if you buy a Chromebook from Paihia School. They are the rules of what you can and can’t do with your Chromebook. One thing you can’t do is go on inappropriate sites AT ALL, there are many more things but they’ll be explained in my DLO. One of the things you must do is be on the right site AT ALL TIMES. It was easy after I knew what to write down. Does your school follow the Kawa Of Care?

My Experiences On Show Not Tell

Kia ora, my name is Kai and I am year 7. Hope your day is going well. A few weeks ago we did an inference T-Shaped I was working by myself and I found it challenging to find the answer but I got some help from Gina. The match report was the hardest one for me because I had to look deeper into the text to find the answer. The easiest one for me was three bears because the answers were more obvious. I thought this activity was very fun. Have you ever done a show not tell activity?

How To Inference

Kia ora, my name is Kai and I am year 7. Hope your day is going well.  A few weeks ago we did

an inferencing doc there was some writing on it and we had to follow the success criteria.  We were

learning to inference. There are three stories that we had to read. What type of person the character may

be (young, sporty, old etc) we also had to find out what kind of person the character is, how the character

is feeling at that moment and why, where and when this action is taking place. Have you ever done

inferencing task like mine before?

Time To Make The Best Rocket In The World

Kia ora everyone this week we in Te ngahere we launched our rockets for the second time or for some of us it was the first time. My group has made some modifications to our rocket. My group got a new 1.5L bottle and we didn't cut of or hot glue gun anything we used tape to put the fins on the rocket. We also put a cone piece from another bottle on the top of our bottle to put a parachute man in the cone piece. I think our new rocket that we made is going to fly better because there are no gaps for the water and air pressure to get out. It was so much easier making this rocket than the other one. Has your school ever done the wonder project?

Tips To Following The Kawa Of Care

Kia ora everyone reading my blog post.  In Te ngahere we have been making something to do with the Kawa Of Care. The Kawa Of Care tells you how to look after your chromebook. I have been making a kawa of care DLO. My DLO is about the things you shouldn't do if you have a chromebook and follow the Kawa Of Care. In the overall experience of making my kawa of care poster it was hard because I didn't know how I was going to explain what the Kawa Of Care is but once I got the hang of it, it was really easy. Do you follow the Kawa Of Care?

Amazing Activities

Kia ora. This week we have started to do cross country fitness. We have 5 cones and at each cone there was a different exercise. The exercise were crab walk, ski jump, planking, push ups and high knees each activity was 30 seconds. We did all the activities twice. The hardest one for me was the planking because it hurt some of my back muscles. Since some of us didn't listen we had to run 8 minutes between the rugby post’s. Do you like cross country?

Amazing Movie Making

Kia ora. This week we have started to do movie making. I am in a group with Stilly, Dalton, Harlem and Nga-toki. Stilly and Dalton are the rappers Harlem is the camera man Nga-toki is the beat maker and I am the radio person. Our theme for our movie is music. Our class is making movies for the movie night in KeriKeri. I think it is going to be really fun making a movie. I’m finding what to say and talking on the ipad hard because I don't like hearing myself. Is your school going to make movies for the movie night in KeriKeri?

We added a few more moves into the tik tok dances to make them more interesting, the two people who taught us the dances were Anyah and Mihipeka. Aerial Bombardment

Kia ora this week for games we played aerial bombardment it
was my first time playing aerial bombardment. There are teams
of two, a line that goes across the court you place 7 balls on that
line. If someone throws the ball at you and you catch it they are
out. If you get out and someone in your team catches the ball
you are back in. you are not allowed to cross the line in the
middle. I didn't like that when you get out you have to go on the
side and wait for someone in your team to catch the ball
because if there are already a few people in the line you have to
wait for ages I liked that you move around alot because if you
stand still then you get hit. Have you ever played
aerial bombardment or a similar game?

The main angles are 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°. I think I did good working with my buddy Dale.

Kia ora. For the summer learning journey we had to write a poem. For me writing a poem is kinda hard to do but once you get
the hang of it it's easy. Here is my poem. I got of the plane
Feel a bit lame.

Nerves run up my spine
But I will make this holiday mine

Fantastic Spanish

Kia ora. In Te Ngahere we have still been doing work. We are still keeping our distance.
We have been going on calls with the hole class and then the teachers explain what we have
to do.  One of the things we have to do is Summer learning journey or SLJ. We had to choose
a country and research about it.  It is on a google slide and it has 20 days and each day we
have to do an activity. This is an activity I did. For this activity we had to go to google translate
and transfer english phrase to the country you picked I picked Mexico. Here are my ones. I
asked where is the shop. This is how you say it in spanish Dónde está la tienda
How much is this is Cuánto cuesta este
Thank you is gracias

swimming practice

Kia ora, this week and last week we started going to the beach for a swim and practicing our swim skills for Russell swimming sports. We can't swim in the school pool because it isn't filled up with water and because it is to shallow. We can't fill it up because of the water restriction and because we are on level four. Who cares we get to go to the beach!!! If one of your family members come to help out with the swimming then you get to come every time we go. We go every Monday and Thursday.
