Replaceing Kate Sheppard

Kia ora. If I was chose the next bank note to replace Kate Sheppard
on the 10 dollar note, I would be creating the 8 addition. I would chose
Dame Whina Cooper who dedicated her life fighting for Maori land rights
and better living conditions. She started a group and then marched from
the far far north to Parliament in Wellington to support her cause.
What made her famous was being 79 years old when she did this, she was
a female leader and the crowd grew and grew as they walked to Wellington.
How many 79 year olds could do that to day do you think. She must of been
super duper fit.

  1. Kia ora Kai,

My name is Tayla and I am the Cluster Manager for the Summer Learning Journey in Kaikohekohe. It's great to see you participating in the programme!

I think Dame Whina Cooper is a great choice! You've done an awesome job explaining who this incredible woman was, and why she would deserve to be on the 10 dollar note.

It's pretty incredible that she walked that far when she was 79 years old!! I agree, she must have been super duper fit to finish that walk! Do you know how long it took her to walk that far?

It's awesome to see your image attribution too, Kai. Keep up the great work :)

    Ngā mihi,
    Tayla

  2. Kia ora Kai! Olive from the Summer Learning Journey! How are you doing?

Thank you for your blog post! I really enjoyed reading about why Whina Cooper should be on the $10 note! I'm with you on this - she's an excellent role model and a very brave, inspirational woman!

I notice you haven't been as active recently - maybe you're on holiday? Bad wifi connection? The dog ate your computer? Whatever the reason, my team and I would love to see more of your work! Don't give up, there are still two weeks of the program to go!

    Ngā mihi,
    Olive
